From childhood, Derek Austin was captivated by comic books, science fiction, and mythology—worlds filled with adventure, power, and purpose. But something was missing: heroes who looked like him. That gap sparked a lifelong passion to create stories that center Black voices, culture, and representation.
Now, as a writer, illustrator, and founder of Austin Infinite Media, Derek brings that vision to life. He crafts empowering children’s books and vibrant imagery that reflect the beauty, strength, and potential of African American youth. Through his growing collection of books and a positive-image clothing line, he’s helping kids see themselves as brave, brilliant, and full of possibility.
